Why do I need to get my LEV System tested?
Regulation 9 of COSHH 2002 (Maintenance, Examination and Testing of Control Measures) states that all LEV systems provided to ensure the health and safety of employees must be maintained in “efficient working order”. As an employer you therefore have a legal obligation to ensure that LEV systems keep working properly.
How and when do I get it tested?
LEV systems must be inspected at least every 14 months by a competent engineer and re-certified to be in safe working condition. Design & Filtration engineers are trained to P601 standard and use the correct up to date equipment on all systems.
What happens during a LEV Test?
The LEV Test checks the control effectiveness of your system and checks the air flow, static pressure and volume measurements against the commissioning report and the guidelines in HSG258. A test label will be attached to the unit detailing a PASS or FAIL and the date the next LEV Test is due.
Do I get a certificate once passed?
A detailed 4 – 5 page test report is compiled for each LEV system tested. This will include a description of the unit and detailed drawing, all measurements and readings compiled during the test, the condition of the system, any recommendations and filter pressure readings. A COSHH Certificate will then be issued on successful completion of the test and is to be kept with your records for a minimum of 5 years.
